The Pentagon server architecture states
that for the entire network – only one server should be running
as the Main Server. The Main Server is responsible for various
tasks as listed below:
Calculations
Report running
Forms production
ETS Management
Faxes Management
Etc.
Aside from the Main Server, there can
be other servers running on other machines. Those servers are
called Transmitters, and it is their responsibility is to send
the faxes that the Main Server receives and manages. Because of
the nature of these servers, they should be running on computers
with modems/fax devices. These servers must run Windows XP or
Windows 2003 Server using an external fax card.
NOTE: Windows
2003 Server support with multiple fax cards in one server.
NOTE: Windows
XP supports only one fax card. If you run multi transmitters,
you will need one computer for each transmitter.

Furthermore, the name and Description of the transmitter can be

Telephony – Set to and mark as Automatic
Test the Fax on the transmitter - Load
any word document, select file, print, and select the ’from the
printer list, complete the procedure and verify that the fax was
sent correctly.
Multi fax Transmitters
In a situation where there are two fax servers on two different computers;
Create separate settings for each fax
Under \P2000SQL create two sub directories;
\P2000DQL\FAX1\ and \P2000SQL\FAX2\
Copy the files to each of the directories
and create separate icons from each XP computer for both the server.exe
and FaxManSDK.
Extract the zip dll file
Copy
the FaxManSDK.exe
Copy the Server.exe
Copy the two xml files
NOTE: When
you set the server as main from pentagon administration it
will update the xml file within \P2000SQL and not the file
in the sub directory; you will need to copy the XML file to
both of the sub directories after configuring.
Copy the PENTAGON2000SQL.INI
Working with McAfee Enterprise 8.0
Working with FaxMan on a station with
MacAfee enterprise 8.0i running in the background, may lead to
a crash due to collision between the FaxMan & McAfee.
There is a chance that running another
firm Antivirus may lead to the same crash.
