The Label Master is located under the Operations tab on the main menu,
along the top of the home screen.
The Label Master window contains a list of all of the available labels
in the Pentagon system, categorized by type.
Perhaps the best way to decide which labels to use is to review the
document containing samples of how the printed labels would appear. A
document containing sample labels can be viewed here. Once you have familiarized
yourself with the layout of each style of label, you may make a decision
and begin to enter the relevant information for the label of your choice.
- Select the category of label you wish to
create and then choose the specific type.
- Double clicking the desired label will open
the Label Options window. From this window you may decide which items
(parts, customers, vendors, receivers, shippers, employees, work orders)
you wish to create labels for by using the various filters. You may
wish to print labels for an entire warehouse or perhaps for only one
or two items. All of this is quickly established from this window.
- In this example, you may narrow the labels
by specifying part numbers, warehouse codes, locations, categories,
manufacturers, conditions, classes, P/N types, asset types, and received
dates.
Much like running a report in Pentagon, applying the various filters
will reduce the return on the number of labels and help you to create
exactly what you need.
- Once the filters are applied, click the OK
button.
- The Please Choose the Labels window will
appear.
This window displays the results of your filtered search, the more
search criteria you entered, the fewer choices will appear in this
window. Review the options you have and select the labels you wish
to print. You may elect to print all of the labels by clicking the
Mark All button. If you simply wish to print only a few labels, hold
the Shift key and click the desired labels to highlight them.
- Click OK when you have finished selecting
labels to print. The familiar Windows print window will appear; be
sure to select a compatible printer, especially if you are printing
bar coded labels. Click Print to print the labels.
When creating labels from documents, the process is similar. Select
the document type and desired label. This will open a window listing all
of the available documents from which a label can be created.
- Selecting the desired document, (in this
example, a work order) will then open a list of parts that appear
in that document.
- Select the part you wish to print the label
for by Shift Clicking.
- Press the Print button and proceed to the
Windows printing window.
NOTE: In some
cases there will not be choices to select from and the system will
instead go straight to the Windows print window.
